Who is this training created for?

Professionals in the BIM/AEC industry who face the following challenges:

You lack the necessary knowledge or skills

You know how important acquiring new skills and qualifications are to your career development. No matter how much you learn, you feel that you still don’t know enough - enough to apply for your dream job, ask for a well-deserved raise, or to feel confident enough to suggest and implement changes.

You can't afford to upskill/study further

You would like to continue learning and gaining new skills but cannot afford expensive courses or postgraduate studies. Or perhaps you have the finances, but don’t have the time. You already have a full-time job and can’t afford to take time off to study further.

You are worried about job security

The construction industry is rapidly advancing and you worry that you won’t keep up. New technology and software are released monthly, and there is a growing demand for specialists who are proficient in using them. The construction industry is moving forward, and BIM is at the heart of this advancement. You know you need to upskill to stay relevant, but don’t know where to start.

You are frustrated with the limited information available

Are you tired of trying to piece information together from short webinars, articles or videos? Most of which don’t give a thorough answer to your question, or apply to your project? Do you need a structured, detailed training to guide you step-by-step through the process?

Do these challenges above sound all too familiar?
I have the solution for you:

Become BIM Coordinator training

Module 1 - Welcome

In this introductory module, you’ll learn both how the course is structured and how to get the most out of this extensive program.

Module 2 - BIM Fundamentals

Module 2 will give you a better understanding of BIM methodology and how the entire AEC industry benefits from implementing it.

Module 3 - BIM Coordinator job in a nutshell

Here, I focus on the various roles and responsibilities of a BIM Coordinator. This can vary depending on the company you work for and the type of projects you work on.

Module 4 - Software used by the BIM Coordinator

In Module 4, we consider what software tools a BIM Coordinator uses in different phases of a construction project. We’ll also choose a set of software that will be used further in the course.

Module 5- File formats used by BIM Coordinator

After this module, you will know which file formats are commonly used in the industry. We will look both at proprietary as well as open BIM formats.

Module 6 - BIM Requirements and BEP

In Module 6, we get to work on our course project. You will receive the BIM requirements from a fictitious client. We will then discuss these requirements in detail, so you know what they mean for us as BIM Coordinators.

Module 7 - Creating BIM Coordination strategy

Good planning and strategy are key to effective BIM Coordination. In this module, you will learn about the components of such a strategy and plan coordination activities.

Module 8 - Project start-up

A BIM Coordinator has a lot to do at the start of a project. Setting up the folder structure, creating project templates, and managing model coordinates - I will show you how to do all these tasks effectively.

Module 9 - First steps to coordinate your project

In this module, we will start our coordination process. First I’ll show you how to properly export IFC from Revit. This is essential for people who want to work with the openBIM methodology. Then we will use the exported IFC files to learn how to work with Solibri. By the end of this module, you’ll have all the knowledge you need to handle Solibri like a pro!

Module 10 - Creating coordination rules

In Module 10, we dig deeper into the heart of the Solibri checking system and learn how to use rules. We will create several rulesets and rules that check model data and geometry in relation to BEP requirements from module 6.

Module 11 - Conducting coordination in Solibri

Now that we have proper rules in place, we can run internal and multidisciplinary coordination. I will share my tips and tricks and teach you how to check models in the most effective way.

Module 12 - Issue management using BIMCollab

After this module, you will know how to successfully use the BIM Collaboration Format and BCF Connector to handle BIM coordination issues using the BIMCollab platform.

Module 13 - Learning Navisworks

In this module, we will start working with coordination workflow number 2. This time I will teach you how to effectively use another model checking software - Navisworks.

Module 14 - BIM Coordination using Navisworks

We will now use Navisworks to run both internal and interdisciplinary model checks. I will show you the best ways to work with Clash Detective, Search Sets, and many other Navisworks tools.

Module 15 - Handling issues with BIM Track

Navisworks and BIM Track are best friends when it comes to managing coordination issues. After this module, you’ll know how to effectively handle issues using both programs.

Module 16 - Running coordination meetings

In this module, we will focus on coordination meetings. What are they, how to run them effectively, and how to avoid making common mistakes.

Module 17 - Final tips and what next

In the final module, I will share advice about BIM Coordination. We’ll summarize the entire course and I’ll give a few suggestions about the next steps you can take on your journey to become a BIM Coordinator.

What makes the BBC training unique?

Short, powerful lessons

Each module is divided into a number of short lessons, making it easier to find time to cover the material.

Consists of both lectures and practical lessons

While each module begins with a lesson that covers the basic theory, we then move on to applying what we’ve learned in practical ways. A great BIM coordinator doesn’t only have a head filled with knowledge, but is also able to apply what he’s learned to his daily tasks.

Additional materials and teaching aids

You’ll receive practical checklists and materials that are ready to be used for future BIM projects.

Quiz at the end of each module

The quiz at the end of each module helps you assess which areas you’ve understood, and which you’ll still need to work on. This way you’ll be a well-rounded coordinator who has mastered all the necessary skills to do the job effectively.

Learn at your own pace

There is no time limit on the course. Work through the lessons at your own pace and if there’s something you’d like to go over again, no problem! You can always go over the material again and make sure you understand it perfectly.

I don't want you to just buy this training!

I want you, to be sure that buying BBC training is the right investment for you. Hence I prepared 3 videos to show you what's inside.

Why am I so confident?

Hey, I’m Ignacy!

I am a BIM Coordination specialist, teacher, and long-time practitioner of the Building Information Modeling methodology. In 2019, I co-founded the popular blog ‘BIM Corner’ where I share my knowledge and experience about BIM with others.

I’ve spent the last couple of years in various BIM roles at organizations like WSP, Multiconsult, and Norconsult, and have had the opportunity to work on amazing projects. Projects that not only won many prestigious prizes (Autodesk AEC Excellence Awards, The buildingSMART International Awards) but also set new standards in implementing BIM in the construction industry.

Over time I’ve learned a lot about BIM management and BIM coordination, and it’s high time I do something with that knowledge and experience.

The “Become BIM Coordinator” course is the culmination of my career, and I genuinely believe it’ll be profoundly useful. I’m so excited to help you on your journey with BIM Coordination.

See what specialists in our industry have to say about BBC training:

Konrad Naborczyk
Design Manager in Skanska, BIM Corner Co-founder, Academic Lecturer at Zigurat Global Institute of Technology

“Ignacy has created a truly unique course for anyone wanting to learn BIM coordination. The BBC training has it all – and it’s the only one on the market that is such comprehensive. The first few modules will structure your knowledge, starting from the very basic concepts of the BIM methodology. Then, with the help of practical assignments, you will learn how to implement what you have learned in your own work. After finishing the course and having worked through all the real-life examples, exercises and quizzes, all of which are shown by means of high-quality videos, you will have everything you need to become a BIM Coordinator!”

Konrad Fugas
BIM Coordinator, Norconsult Informasjonssystemer, BIM Corner Co-founder

“I have gone through Ignacy’s course and the amount of knowledge it contains is impressive. Even though I have a few years of experience in the BIM field, I still learned a lot from his training. The online training has a very logical structure and it takes you step by step through every stage of the project that a BIM Coordinator is involved in – from specifying project standards, requirements and strategy, though choosing software for the project and finishing on coordination and issue management process. Unlike many other courses available online, this one focuses on the process and not on one particular solution or software. And this is, in my opinion, the biggest value of the Become BIM Coordinator online training. I reckon that anybody who completed and fully understood the course material will be well equipped to become a BIM Coordinator.”

Izabela Nowak
Senior Engineer, Learning Ambassador Structures, Buro Happold Rotterdam

“The course structure is thoughtfully organized and provides knowledge about all mechanisms and issues you might face as a BIM coordinator. The lessons are full of tips and recommendations, while the extensive experience of the author helps you to get into the BIM world much quicker. In addition, you will get an overview of BIM tools, as well as an explanation of how to use them properly. This is not just another course … It is what you need to effectively reach the goal of becoming a BIM coordinator!

Your opinions mean everything to us

We received a lot of positive feedback about the course. Here are just a few:

FAQ

Yep! Anyone who completes the course will be able to save a pdf with their name on it, showing that they’ve completed the BBC Become BIM Coordinator course. This can be useful to claim reimbursement from your employer, to share on social media, or to just feel great about your accomplishment!

If you’re not happy with the course, for any reason, you can reach out by email until 23rd April. I’ll refund your purchase, no questions asked. (Actually, I will ask why you weren’t happy, since that feedback will help me make the course better! But you don’t have to answer it. The refund is unconditional.)

This is an online training course. It consists of over 30 hours of recorded video lessons (check the quality in the DEMO above).

You receive the first 4 modules of the course immediately after purchase. The next course modules will be published weekly on Monday. Additionally, you get documents, checklists, presentations, 3D models (in native and open formats) and mind maps. All of this will be available on the online platform. All you have to do is log in to the platform after the purchase and a vault full of knowledge will open up to you.

After each module, there are quizzes / practical assignments that will help you understand and consolidate what you’ve learned. Practice is the key to successful learning so I prepared a lot of great exercises for you.

No. Current prices are final and non-negotiable. However, when buying a minimum of 5 licenses, I will add one for free. This is the first edition of the BBC training. By enrolling now, you will have access to all future updates in future as well as more expensive editions.

Nope! It’s a one-time purchase. When you buy the Become BIM Coordinator training you’ll always have access to it.

Not only that, but you’ll get all updates and improvements for free. I plan on constantly updating and improving the course over the next couple years!

No, and I’ll explain why. My goal with this course is not to enroll as many students as possible. I don’t want anyone to bury themselves in installments and get into debt to get access to the course at all costs.

I tried to create the material in a way that it is easily understood, even by beginners. During the course modules, I take students from the basic BIM concepts, through to more advanced topics. At the end of the course, I am confident that you will gain the necessary skills to coordinate BIM models.

That said, if you’ve been working in the construction industry for a while, or have just graduated from construction studies, this course is perfect for you.

Your account will be created on the educational platform immediately after payment. Details on how to access the course will be provided by email.

You receive the first 4 modules of the course immediately after purchase. The next two modules of the course will appear gradually every week. The last module will be released on the 15th of May. Why so? This course is a unique training program. It makes no sense to rewrite further modules without learning from the previous ones, so the materials will be published in stages.

I also wanted students to work through the course materials systematically, and to be able to support each other in the implementation of modules and homework.

Absolutely! I spoke with many BIM experts who reviewed the BBC training, and they have said something along the lines of “I’ve been involved in BIM for several years now, and after a few first modules I ‘ve already learned so much.” and ”BIM Coordination is a vast topic, and this course aims to give you a deeper understanding of it.”

During the course we will use trial versions of such programs as Revit, Solibri Office, Navisworks Manage, BIMCollab, BIMTrack, Plannerly, DDSCad.

You don’t need to license all of these programs right away.

You can pay for the course via Stripe. And yes, everyone will receive a proof of purchase in the form of an invoice. Please fill all data in correctly that you want to have on your invoice during checkout.

Yes! We’re using a Facebook group for our online community. Since this is the first edition of the BBC training, the community is just starting to grow. I am sure that many great discussions will take place there every day!

I will be an active participant, helping students with their struggles. I also encourage students to use this group to help fellow students overcome challenges. In this group I will also organize Live Q/A sessions only for students.

Employers want to invest in resources that help their team deliver better results more quickly. I believe BBC – Become BIM Coordinator is an incredibly worthwhile investment.

If you work as an engineer, consultant, or architect and you aren’t sure how to get your employer to put this course on the company card, I created a letter template you can use to help persuade them to pick up a copy for you.

Here is One Pager for your company or Boss.

If you don’t know how to convince our Manager to put the course on the company card here I prepared a
Letter To Your Manager – it will help you with that.

This information is especially relevant for companies. YES, you can buy multiple licenses by placing one group order (just increase the number of items in your cart).

For every 5 purchases, you get one for free. After paying for the order, send me the all participant’ details to contact@becomebimcoordinator.com and I will add them to the platform.
